Hi all, on this page I want to tell you a little bit about what my blog is about. I myself am a tourist, a dreamer and just a person who loves to explore, explore new and beautiful places and monuments. In my blog, I talk about the largest bridges in the world and introduce you to the history of bridge building.

A bridge is an artificial structure erected over a river, lake, ravine, strait, or any other physical obstacle. A bridge built across the road is called an overpass, a bridge over a ravine or gorge – a viaduct.

The bridge is one of the oldest engineering inventions of mankind.

Modern trends in the construction of metal bridges are characterized by the desire to save metal and reduce labor costs in the manufacture and installation of the spans. This is achieved by using high-strength steels, application of welded structures, effective types of assembly joints, introduction of progressive economical systems and structures of span structures.

One of the progressive structural elements of steel spans, especially for road and city bridges, is orthotropic plates. Such structures perform several functions at the same time: they are the supporting decking of the carriageway for the passage of transport; fully or partially play the role of back belts of the main beams or trusses; exclude the need for longitudinal links of the span in the level of their location.

I hope my articles for you will be not only interesting but also useful. Enjoy reading!
