Weekend Roadworks at M90 J3/2a Southbound – 19-22 August
4 August 2016
Motorists using the M90 southbound between 8 p.m. on Friday 19 August and 6 a.m. on Monday 22 August are advised to allow extra time for their journey, as traffic management will be in place to allow improvements to a 570 metre section of the southbound carriageway.
A contraflow arrangement will be in place between Junction 2a and Junction 3, with two running lanes provided for northbound traffic and one lane southbound. Throughout the works, the Junction 3 M90 southbound on-slip will be closed with traffic joining the motorway from Dunfermline and Crossgates diverted via the A92 and Cowdenbeath Junction, rejoining the M90 southbound at Junction 2A.
Motorists using the M90 southbound should expect some delays during peak hours. Traffic joining the motorway via the diversion route should allow an extra five minutes for their journey.
Mark Arndt, Amey’s Operating Company Representative for the Forth Bridges Unit, said: “We apologise in advance for any disruption that these essential roadworks may cause to road users, however this stretch of road is used by an average of 15,000 motorists each day and it is important that we undertake this work now to ensure it continues to operate safely and reliably in future.”
The improvements represent an investment of £156,000 by Transport Scotland to ensure motorists experience greater journey time reliability, improved safety and comfort.
