Open Evening for South Queensferry Residents

Published on 23 Jun 2010

Residents of South Queensferry are invited to an Open Evening at the Forth Road Bridge Administration Office on Monday 28 June from 5:30 to 08:00 p.m.

Staff from Forth Road Bridge, contractors Balfour Beatty and consulting engineers Atkins will be present to discuss any aspect of the project to replace the bearings on the bridge's approach viaducts. Local residents are welcome to drop in for a cup of tea and a chat at any point during the evening.

Work to replace the bearings on the south viaduct has now begun. The area surrounding the viaduct piers in South Queensferry has been fenced off, access tracks have been excavated and contractors have begun erecting scaffolding.

The project is scheduled to last until December 2012. Some night-time working will be required and some disturbance due to noise is expected during daytime hours, although everything possible is being done to minimise disruption.
