Users of the Forth Road Bridge are being offered a free two-week trial of a new bridge traffic information system.
The system, dubbed “FRB123”, is designed to help motorists avoid being caught out by unexpected delays on and around the bridge. It has been developed by Glenrothes-based company Comvista.
Bridge control staff provide notice of current restrictions, and sensors on the approach roads automatically measure delays, alerting subscribers to problems as soon as they happen.
Subscribers can specify which restrictions and delays they wish to be notified of and can even choose which days of the week and what times of day they want to receive alerts.
Bridge traffic information is available by SMS text, email or phone.
