Forth Road Bridge Southbound - Temporary Abnormal Load Restrictions
17 February 2017
Effective immediately as a result of the ongoing works associated with the Queensferry Crossing on the A90 between Ferrytoll and the Forth Road Bridge, a number of restrictions are now in place at the Forth Road Bridge for abnormal loads for the safety and protection of road users and the Forth Road Bridge structure.
This means that any abnormal loads travelling on the M90 Southbound will require to be escorted with the support of Police Scotland. Normal road traffic will be held using a rolling police road block at the north end of the bridge. This will enable abnormal loads to travel over the bridge under police escort.
Width: over 3.6 metres
Length: 30 metres and over
Weight: 80 tonnes and over
Therefore any abnormal loads over the restrictions must reroute either using the Clackmannanshire Bridge/M876/M80 or go via the M9/M80.
