Emergency Repair and Inspection, 9/6/15
9 June 2015
Traffic on the Forth Road Bridge was restricted to a single lane northbound for 29 minutes today to allow an emergency repair and inspection of the carriageway. The lane closure was implemented at 11:43 and both lanes reopened to traffic at 12:12.
The closure was required while bridge workers carried out emergency repairs to a damaged section of the carriageway, also taking the opportunity to carry out a detailed inspection of the area to ascertain the severity and extent of the damage.
Temporary repairs will be completed later tonight using an overnight lane closure to minimise disruption. Using the data gathered from the inspection a permanent repair will then be programmed in at a future date, again using overnight working wherever possible to minimise disruption.
