What we do
It is the responsibility of the Forth Bridges Unit Operating Company to ensure that the bridge and its approach roads operate at maximum efficiency 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With the nearest alternative passage 31km upstream and many of the bridge’s users commuters and commercial vehicles, disruption to traffic must be minimised as far as possible.

The Forth Bridges Unit took over the operation and maintenance of the Forth Road Bridge following the dissolution of the Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA) on 1 June 2015. Copies of FETA reports and board papers can be found on the City of Edinburgh Council website here.
